Original black-and-white charcoal painting by Dave Hobrecht.
This heartfelt painting imagines a gathering of beloved Dodgers legends who have passed on, walking together through the gates of Dodger Stadium one more time. Leading the way are icons like Tommy Lasorda and Jackie Robinson (#42), joined by many more of the greats who helped build the franchise’s proud history and touched the lives of generations of fans.
Lasorda famously said he bled Dodger blue, and spent more than seven decades with the organization, managing the club to World Series titles in 1981 and 1988. Jackie Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier in 1947 wearing a Dodgers uniform, changing the game and the country forever; today his No. 42 is retired across all of Major League Baseball. Together with the other legends in this scene, they represent the heart and soul of Dodgers baseball, and a family that never truly leaves the ballpark.
