Hobrecht Sports Art offers a fine art giclée edition print, printed on high quality archival canvas with archival ink, based on Dave Hobrecht's original charcoal and pastel painting for the University of Southern California, called “Victory.”
This amazing painting captures Heisman Trophy winner, Matt Leinart, celebrating on the sidelines in the aftermath of perhaps the most memorable game in the history of the storied rivalry between the USC Trojans and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, a 34-31 SC victory in the 2005 contest.
With time running out in the fourth quarter, down by 4 points, the Trojans knew they needed a touchdown. When their late drive stalled, with 1:32 remaining, USC was faced with 4th down and 9 at their own 26-yard line. On that do-or-die play, Leinart found receiver, Dwayne Jarrett downfield on a fade to the sideline for a monumental 51-yard completion to the Irish 13. Four plays later, Leinart found the end zone on a quarterback keeper, with a little push from his tailback to seal the historic SC victory. The win preserved the Trojans’ undefeated record on their way to the National Championship game.
“Victory” is the third in the trilogy of paintings commissioned by the University of Southern California, commemorating the legendary USC victory over Notre Dame.
