Ohtani 50/50

Original black-and-white charcoal painting by Dave Hobrecht.

This powerful painting captures Shohei Ohtani at Dodger Stadium, bat resting on his shoulder and a pair of cleats slung around his neck, as the giant video board behind him displays the two numbers that defined a historic season: 54 and 59.

In his first year with the Dodgers in 2024, Ohtani did something no player in Major League Baseball history had ever done, becoming the first member of the 50-50 club. He reached the milestone on September 19 in Miami with one of the greatest single-game performances ever, going 6-for-6 with three home runs, two stolen bases and 10 RBIs. He finished the season with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases, was named the unanimous NL MVP, and helped lead the Dodgers to a World Series championship, all while not throwing a single pitch as he recovered from elbow surgery.
