Miggy Ro

Original black-and-white charcoal painting by Dave Hobrecht.

This thrilling painting captures Miguel Rojas racing toward home plate as his Dodgers teammates crowd around to greet him with high fives and celebration, moments after one of the most unlikely and important home runs in franchise history.

In Game 7 of the 2025 World Series in Toronto, the Dodgers trailed the Blue Jays 4-3 in the ninth inning, just two outs from elimination. Batting with one out, Rojas pulled a full-count slider from Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman 387 feet over the fence to tie the game, becoming the first player in MLB history with a game-tying home run in the ninth inning or later of a World Series Game 7. He wasn’t done there, making a key throw home in the bottom of the ninth that prevented the Blue Jays from winning on a walk-off. A Will Smith home run in the 11th and a scoreless inning from World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto sealed the victory, giving the Dodgers their second straight championship. Today, Miggy Ro’s heroics are mentioned alongside Kirk Gibson’s 1988 pinch-hit homer and Freddie Freeman’s 2024 grand slam as the most memorable Dodgers World Series home runs.
