Dave Hobrecht's original charcoal and pastel painting of surf legend Ian "Kanga" Cairns.

The Australian-born Cairns is a former world surf champion who dominated the sport in the 1970s and was described as "the premiere power surfer" of his era. He was a long-time fixture on the North Shore in Hawaii, where he helped pioneer the professional surf circuit and became one of the most influential surfers of all time. The piece shows Cairns in action on the North Shore.

Dave spent much of his youth surfing in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California, and started his career as a professional artist as Editorial Cartoonist for Surfer Magazine.
