Dave Hobrecht's original charcoal and pastel painting, "Ghost Tree."

Ghost Tree, named after the lone cypress growing on a cliff in the Pacific Ocean off Pebble Beach's 17 Mile Drive, is one of the most elusive and dangerous surf breaks in the world. It is known for its big waves and rocky, unforgiving shoreline that has proven fatal for many surfers, and only the most skilled big wave surfers attempt it. Dave's painting portrays one of those surfers challenging one of its massive waves.

Dave spent much of his youth riding the waves of his hometown, Huntington Beach, California, also known as Surf City USA. He started his career as a professional artist as Editorial Cartoonist for Surfer Magazine.
