Original black-and-white charcoal painting by Dave Hobrecht.
This joyful portrait captures the moment Shohei Ohtani officially became a Los Angeles Dodger. Pen in hand, Ohtani signs the paperwork that made it official, sharing a warm, happy moment with Dodgers owner and chairman Mark Walter. The smiles on both faces show the excitement of a deal that changed baseball history.
In December 2023, after six remarkable seasons with the Angels, Ohtani signed a record-breaking 10-year contract with the Dodgers, the largest in the history of professional sports. For Dodger fans, it was the arrival of a generational talent they had long hoped for. Ohtani rewarded that faith immediately, winning the NL MVP and helping lead the Dodgers to a World Series championship in his very first season in Dodger Blue, then doing it again with another MVP and a second straight title in 2025. This painting honors the moment it all began.
