Dave Hobrecht's original charcoal and pastel painting of Hawaiian surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku.
Duke is widely regarded as the grandfather of modern surfing, popularizing it not just in Hawaii but in the mainland United States, Australia and beyond. Though known today mostly as a surfing icon and pioneer, Duke was also a 5-time Olympic medalist for the U.S. in swimming, including three gold medals.
Dave grew up riding the waves of his hometown, Huntington Beach, California, also known as Surf City USA, and began his career as a professional artist as Editorial Cartoonist for Surfer Magazine.
