Dave Hobrecht's original charcoal and pastel painting of New York Yankees great, Hall of Famer and original Home Run King Babe Ruth.
Ruth started his career as a pitcher in 1914 with the Boston Red Sox and soon became the ace of the staff, winning 23 and 24 games in 1916 and 1917. His career ERA with Boston was 2.19 and he won 94 games. After becoming a full-time outfielder in 1919 and setting the then single-season home run record with 29, he was sold to the New York Yankees.
Ruth broke his own record with 54 home runs in 1920 and 59 in 1921, then hit 60 in 1927, a record that would stand for almost 35 years. He finished his career with 714 home runs and became the game's most beloved figure.
