When the Engineering Department at Ferrari commissioned Dave Hobrecht to create an original painting for the only living Ferrari son, Piero, Hobrecht included Piero Ferrari in the right-hand corner of the finished painting. After sending the painting to Ferrari in Italy, Hobrecht received a personal note from Piero Ferrari stating that he liked the painting so much he had moved it from the company's gallery to his home for inclusion in his private collection. Mr. Ferrari said he was so fond of the painting because Hobrecht had included him in the actual work. Hobrecht has since been invited to Italy to show his artwork because of this Ferrari piece.
