A high-quality reproduction based on Dave Hobrecht's original charcoal and pastel painting of Major League legend, all-time New York Yankees great, and baseball Hall of Famer, Lou Gehrig, the Iron Horse. Gehrig held the record for most consecutive games played until forced to sit out because of illness. The world would later learn Gehrig was suffering from ALS, now known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This depiction is unique as most images featuring this Gehrig pose show a perspective from the outfield. Hobrecht's painting shows Gehrig as if the viewer were sitting in the dugout looking across the infield to the outfield fence. This is one of Hobrecht's finest portrayals of lighting, blur and form. Available in Black, White, and Grey.
