A high quality reproduction based on Dave Hobrecht's original black and white charcoal and pastel painting of Major League and Baltimore Orioles legend and baseball Hall of Famer, Cal Ripken, Jr. Ripken set the record for most consecutive games played in baseball history, with 2,632, breaking the record of 2,130 set by Lou Gehrig and that many believed to be unbeatable. Ripken was a 19-time All Star and 2-time AL MVP. He collected 3,184 hits, slugged 431 HRs and ushered in a new era of shortstops, like Derek Jeter, who were excellent defensively and could also hit for power and average. Hobrecht painted the original piece for Ripken based on an image of him playing the infield that was hand-picked by Cal. Available in Black, White, and Gray.
