Hobrecht Sports Art offers a fine art giclée edition print, printed on high quality archival canvas with archival ink, based on Dave Hobrecht’s original charcoal painting of surf legend, Mark Richards.

The Australian-born Richards is a former world surf champion whose inimitable style and personality commanded the attention of the surfing world in the 1970s and early 80s. Richards, nicknamed, MR, re-fashioned the twin-fin surfboard design and ushered in a new, technically more advanced board. Richards was named Surfer Magazine's surfer of the year award 3 times and inducted into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame. He has been featured in dozens of surf films, most notably, "Free Ride" in 1977. Hobrecht's dynamic black and white painting of MR captures him in the midst of his signature spread arm "wounded seagull" surf posture. Hobrecht spent much of his youth riding the waves of his hometown Huntington Beach, California, also known as, Surf City USA. Hobrecht started his career as a professional artist as Editorial Cartoonist for Surfer Magazine.
