Hobrecht Sports Art offers a fine art giclée edition print, printed on high quality archival canvas with archival ink, based on Dave Hobrecht’s original charcoal painting of the infamous Michael Pineda pine tar incident.

Baseball’’s greatest rivalry between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox has seen some memorable moments but few more notorious than the time Yankees pitcher, Michael Pineda was caught cheating with pine tar in April 2014. Hobrecht’s painting depicts the moment home plate umpire, Gerry Davis, detects the illegal substance on the pitcher’s neck, which Pineda had been illegally applying to the baseball. Davis ejected Pineda and he was subsequently suspended for 10 games. The original painting is now in the private collection of umpire Gerry Davis, a 32-year veteran of the Major Leagues.

Our canvas prints are always printed on the highest quality canvas paper using archival inks. Each one is guaranteed to be high-resolution and fade-resistant.
