Tying career achievements together, Gil Hodges played first base for the only Brooklyn team to win a World Series in 1955, and the next time a New York National League team was crowned World Series champions in 1969 he was the manager. In between, the Dodgers moved from one coast to another and it was Hodges who played in the Dodgers' first Los Angeles World Series championship in 1959. Leadership and victory. A marine hero, a Brooklyn legend, and a New York sports icon. In 2022, Cooperstown finally beckoned posthumously indirectly Gil into the Hall, an honor long overdue.
